Have you ever drunk one gallon of water in one day? Sure, you landscapers, gardeners, exercisers are used to hydrating to compensate for perspiration loss. So you drink a lot of water. And you seldom visit the restroom.
Since chemotherapy started I no longer garden or do physically demanding things, but I still have to drink one gallon of water every day. It helps flush out the chemo…often. Day and night.

Now I’m used to the rhythm of nocturnal bathroom visits: Every two hours. Bed at 9:00 PM, up at 11:00 and 1:00 and 3:00 or 4:00 (now), and finally up at 6:00.
Chemo has irritated the lining of my nose and mouth, slightly. Like a mild head cold. Both nostrils work on and off, partially, making my mouth do all the breathing work. So when I wake up my mouth is as dry as sandpaper. Drink more water. Repeat soon.
Sometimes when I wake up in the night to pee, I can’t get back to sleep right away. Since I do this at least once per night, I am use to it. So, I talk to God about this and that and visit the ocean house. The ocean house was built sometime in the late 90s during a stress management class I took while on active duty. We had to create a safe place in our heads….mine was an awesome house on the coast of Maine at the top of a mountain. The house is nested in a small clearing among a forest of Maine’s native and towering trees. Near the cliff, there is a stone platform with long steps, carved from the rock, switching back and forth across the cliff and down to the beach. I keep trying to add chairs and a fire pit there but they won’t stay. If you have seen the NE coast, it is like the west coast and the beaches are narrow in some areas and huge mountains of rock rise up from seemingly nothing but ocean. The mountains are home to beautiful forests, rich soil, clean air…and for some reason, it never snows at my ocean house. I often enjoy fresh lobster and Atlantic cod I get at the fish market a few miles into town. I never drive and always ride my bike. It’s always downhill who knows how that works?! I have tried over the years to change it, add people, or features but I never sticks except when I added chickens a few years back. Hope that makes you smile! Have an awesome day!
