Drip.

Six hours into a 9 hour treatment. Note to self: When you tell the nurse “I feel a little funny”, three of them will suddenly surround your chair, disconnect the chemo, hit you with a shot of Benadryl and a steroid. The itchy throat immediately vanished. Then some saline for a break and back to the bag.

My shadow. Emotional support IV rack.

  1. First day of Chemo… DONE! Check that one off your list, right now!
Several years ago, I sat with my brother during his chemo sessions. He says that first one was definitely the roughest. Not knowing what to expect, or how he’d feel,…. and honestly, he was just plain scared. And that’s okay, cuz who wouldn’t be? My job was to distract him with stories, music, games, whatever he asked for, that’s what I did. It was comforting knowing his family & friends had his back. So Bob, please know WE’ve got your back. We are all rooting for you! Yes, you have the tough part of the job, but when you need us, please know there are LOTS of us on your support team! Just tell us what you need, we’ll be there for you. And remember, You got this Bob! ❤
